Meet Our Team

Mary Helen Richards

For me, yoga is a tool, a healing art, that teaches us how to best take care of ourselves & others, a physical practice with a spiritual intention. I began teaching yoga in 2009 and am currently certified as a E-RYT® 500, YACEP® teacher with an additional 200hr certification in Ashtanga yoga.

I teach an athletic & playful style of heated vinyasa flow infused with yoga philosophy. When not on the mat, I enjoy spending time with my amazing husband Danny, our 5 dogs Dot, Buster, Roxie, Derby and Seymour, fitness and going to the beach.

My daughter Falin and son Paul inspire me every day to follow my heart and take action.

Yoga is my church. I was certified as an RYT® 200 right here at MH Health Studio. Believing these floorboards can heal, my style is to sweat and move “it” …what ever your “it” is…out.

Volume up-heat temperature up-Vinyasa-Power yoga-with a touch of Ashtanga is my teaching style.

When not at the studio teaching, taking a class or doing facials you’ll find me with either my bearded husband, dogs, laughing with a friend or planning my next epic adventure!

I am an E-RYT® 500 and RCYT certified instructor. I began my yoga journey in 2014. My personal practice grew and I started noticing multiple mental and physical benefits within my life. This let me to my RYT® 200 hour yoga teacher training at MH Yoga to further my love of being a student I completed my RYT® 300 hour training at Balance Health Studio in Seagrove, FL.

I continue to grow both as a student and teacher. I love to help students create space in their bodies and mind. When I'm not doing handstands, I like spending time at the beach with my husband Jimmy and daughters Bella and Willow.

I adore yoga because it helps people find their most authentic, courageous self. With 5 years of teaching as an RYT®-200, I continue to learn methods to train smarter not harder. In a one hour class, we target maximum mind, body, soul potential. We sweat but don’t stress.

We train the body to be strong and flexible, while focusing on safety and security to build a resilient nervous system. When I’m not teaching yoga, I enjoy pressing green juice for clients, spending time with my adult kids, working on t.H.e. farm with my husband Jeremy or boarding clients in the HOCATT aka the magic box.

My yoga journey began in 2016. It drew me in right from the start. Practice wasn't enough; I needed to grow deeper with it. After acquiring my RYT® 200 certification, I added yin and restorative training to my toolbox. The growth continued as I practiced, read and  taught at Inspired Wellness & Yoga in Ford City, PA sharing my love of yoga with others.

Yoga is with me at the gym lifting and sweating with my husband, Travis; when I'm home alone with our cats, Ziggy and Zowie; while I'm worshiping God at my Christian fellowship; and in all my interactions with family and friends. â€‹

Having been a public school teacher for three decades provided me with the opportunity to lead and guide. Continuing to do that here at MH Yoga is a fabulous blessing in my life. Everyone benefits from what yoga offers. Its rewards are life-changing!

In addition to being certified as a RYT® 200, I am a health and wellness coach for middle-aged women. Therefore, I get the opportunity to see firsthand the changes a consistent yoga practice can make in peoples lives! Quite simply, yoga is a fantastic tool to help facilitate change. If you are looking to incorporate more healthy lifestyle habits, yoga is a great place to start! Moving your body, deepening your breath and meditation are all ways to manage stress. I would love to share my passion for these yoga practices with you.

When I am not teaching yoga, breath work or coaching, I am outside! I love to garden, spend time at the beach or just piddle. Spending time with my better half, walking my boxer, Buster, or spending time with my sons, Will and Luke.

My yoga practice started here at MH Yoga Health Studio in 2017 and I received my RYT® 200 HR here soon after. Being a Licensed Massage Therapist, I always loved the mind/body connection yoga brought. It wasn't until deeper in my practice I realized it was so much more.

To me, yoga is not just the practice on your mat, it's something you take with you throughout your day. It's giving, releasing, and meeting yourself where you are. I want to encourage my students to be comfortable in their own skin, know not every practice looks the same and that's perfect, and be able to take healing and gratitude with them when they leave class.

When I'm not practicing yoga, I'm either spending time with my kids, Olivia, Julian and Liam, or I'm in the gym!

I deeply value self-care and balance and am grateful to be part of the MH Yoga community, where I get to connect with the practice and people that keep me grounded and energized. Yoga is a beautiful way to find peace and connection, and I look forward to continuing to grow alongside all of you.

Outside the studio, I love spending time with my four kids, raising butterflies, enjoying the beach, painting and showcasing my art at festivals. These connections with nature, art, and family inspire me, and I'm excited to bring that energy to the MH Yoga family.
